Genesis 2:22

3:7
There are many scriptures that describe the gift and Godly pleasure of sex in marriage but before they can be fully appreciated, couples must first understand the concept of oneness in marriage.  We first saw back in Genesis that woman (Eve) came from the flesh and bone of the man (Adam) and they knew no shame in their nakedness until they sinned.  They were truly one in spirit and one in flesh.  There are many scriptures that show a man and woman are one in spirit and flesh in marriage.  However, today we come from different parents, different environments, possibly different countries and cultures.  Therefore it is much more difficult to be one in flesh.  Even the commonly taught concepts of "Be self-sufficient” and “Be Independent" take us away from the beautiful totally dependant, oneness (or one body) that God designed into the perfect marriage relationship.  Another thing that keeps us from expecting this kind of relationship in marriage is that there are so few marriages today that experience and therefore exemplify this perfect oneness.
Deuteronomy 24:5

This, I believe, is part of the reason that God would prefer the husband (today husband and wife) to spend the whole first year of marriage away from military service and away from work so that he is totally free of those distracting responsibilities to devote that time to his new bride to overcome the incorrect things learned and environmental influences over both of their previous lives apart from each other.

Ephesians 5:26 Of course, the only way to come to a perfect "One Mind" is to come to the mind of Christ.  The only way to come to that mind is intense study of scripture and the application of the scripture.  This is exactly what Paul is talking about  when he instructs the husband to “Sanctify and cleanse” the marriage.
Acts 2:4-18 Now that the groundwork is laid, let's start at the beginning of this important “oneness” passage where it explains that being filled with the Spirit is a mental, physical and emotional high that is confused with being drunk with wine.  This comparison is also made even more clearly in Acts 2.  But how can we get to this state of euphoria?  Let's read on what Apostle Paul has to say.

Ephesians 6:19

Philippians 4:8-9
First, we speak to ourselves in Psalms and Hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks for everything in the name of Christ.  Paul repeats this instruction in Philippians 4 and promises "the God of Peace shall be with you".  But back in Ephesians which is a detailed look at how this is achieved in marriage Paul does not stop there.

Genesis 2:18

Ephesians 6:21
Paul instructs that to reach this state in marriage (don't forget that God made us incomplete without the other) we must submit to one another.  How important is this?  We should fear consequences from God if we do not.  Hold that thought and go to 'Submission in Marriage'.
