Blood Payment
|

|
Romans 6:23 Hebrews 9:22 Hebrews 10:19&29 | Some people think only of God’s attributes that are more pleasant, like a God of “Love” or a source of “Peace”. However, He is also a source of “Strength”. He is Almighty and is a God of “Justice” among many other attributes. As a perfectly just God He demands retribution or “A Payment” for every sin. Can we pay for a past sin by suddenly being obedient the rest of our life? Not hardly. The Bible says, “The wages of sin is death” and more specifically in Hebrews “without the shedding of blood is no remission of sin”. | Leviticus 17:10-14 | God has always put this importance on blood. That is why He instructed Israel to never eat blood but to sacrifice animals for (temporary) sin atonement. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the alter to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” | Genesis 3:6-7 Genesis 3:21-22 | Did the sacrifice of animals and shedding of their blood begin in Leviticus? No, God has had this requirement from the creation of man. Notice Adam & Eve made themselves “Aprons of fig leaves” after they sinned. That was not an adequate sin payment. Adam learned from God that animals had to be sacrificed when God made them “Coats of skin and clothed them.” Adam then taught this to Cain and Able. Able followed Adam’s instructions but Cain did not. Thus God was justified in not accepting Cain’s offering of crops harvested from the field. | Romans 5:8-11 | Praise God, the perfect blood has been shed so we no longer have to sacrifice animals. The perfect blood of Christ, the immaculately conceived Son of God, was shed some two thousand years ago to pay for all sin. We are “Being now justified by His Blood we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” |
